My Take On Aldi by Carlyle McGavin

Hey All! I am the Marketing and Sales Coordinator at Nourish Foods. Obviously, the majority of what I consume day to day is from Nourish but I do some light supplemental grocery shopping. As a health nut and a young professional, it can be hard to stick to a healthy diet on a reasonable budget… that was until I was introduced to Aldi.

In my opinion, there are a few staples at Aldi that are worth remembering to bring a quarter. I love to put frozen fruit in/on just about anything… especially, on top of greek yogurt. When I can, I prefer an organic brand of skinless fruits. Aldi’s SimplyNature brand of organic frozen fruit is SO affordable and comes in easy to use ziplock freezer bags. I am a huge snacker, and typically go through a jar of nut butter in just a week or two. Aldi has a wonderful selection of Almond, Cashew and Peanut Butters. They have several options at a low cost (around $4.99) with minimal ingredients… which is what I look for. In a perfect world, your nut butter should only contain nuts (and maybe a dash of salt)… I avoid all things palm seed oil, hydrogenated vegetable oil, molasses, and sugar… you should too! Lastly, I love that Aldi caters to people with food intolerances (just like Nourish Foods) at a reasonable price. I do not eat gluten-free but I love the option to mix things up with a brown rice pasta at an affordable price AND the only ingredient is brown rice flour.

What are your favorite Aldi staples? Have you packed your quarter and given this German supermarket chain a try?
