Hey y’all! My name is Margaret. I joined the Nourish Team back in August of 2017 as the Process Specialist. I’m originally from Fairview, TN (right outside Nashville) and went to high school at St. Cecilia Academy. I graduated from Washington and Lee University last May with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration.
A lot of people ask me how I came to work here and why I chose to move to Birmingham right out of school. Both of my parents are entrepreneurs in Nashville, so I’ve always been interested in working for a start-up. I’ve found that working for a smaller company allows you to be involved with different parts of the process and see the direct result of your work. I took an entrepreneurship course as my capstone class in college, and instantly knew that was the path I wanted to take after graduation. My professor in that class helped me get in contact with Mary (a W&L alum) because he knew about my entrepreneurial interest and love of food. We met for coffee and after hearing about her experience at Nourish, I knew I wanted to get involved.
I came to Birmingham over the summer for a week-long trial period, so I could see what it was like working at the kitchen. I had no prior food experience and the experience was definitely eye-opening! Mary and Tiffany made sure that I was able to work in the packaging room, kitchen, and office to get a feel for what all goes into meal delivery. I loved the work I was doing and started full-time in August! I work as a Process Specialist, so I juggle all things related to packaging, shipping, and local deliveries. The role involves a lot of problem solving, which can be challenging at times, but is always rewarding.
While moving to a new city where I knew no one was daunting, the Nourish Team has welcomed me in as part of the family. I can’t say enough good things about the people that I’m lucky enough to work with and the city of Birmingham that I love getting to explore!
